The two young Shanghai artists, Song Tao and Ji Weiju, use snapshots like music notes, to depict their city that changes quickly and inexorably, rushing ahead without looking back.
They exhibited worldwide, from the Venice Biennale to the New York MOMA, and offer a delicate and profound project to Drogheria Crivellini: anyone in China knows Lao Tsu ’s poem Tao Te Ching, “The Journey Of Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step”, even if only a fragment is revealed.
They position the 8 ideograms, that form the poem, on the fabric under the foot, inside the shoes: this way, they claim, only he who wears the shoes knows the well wishing message that accompanies his journey.
The shoes are made in cotton velvet, with a golden embroidery of the artist’s signature on the upper, and the text printed on the undersole.
